May 2024
May marks the end of my first year as a software development manager. It’s been a challenging first year introducing new and improved working practices, but the team have been responsive and adapted well. We’ve switched source code control over to Git, to allow proper branching and feature isolation. We’ve adopted Azure DevOps to automate the build pipe-line and auto deployment to pre-production architecture.
The team have gotten better at schema migrations, but I’d like to introduce a formal process for managing database schema changes. This will allow us to have the database schema changes under source control, and not have to rely on SQL Compare to find changes made within SQL Server Management Studio
